How do UTM (Unified Threat Management) Appliances grow beyond the world of threats? |
| |
|
| Abstract |
| Unified threat management (UTM) is regarded by many resourced-strapped organizations as a security solution they love to hate. Obviously UTM has the benefits of offering a full array of protection as well as convenience for deployment, yet in many cases, this appliance is a jack of all trades. Some users blame this "jack" for its mediocre performance - in terms of security protection and?management capability.
The next-generation UTM calls for a fundamental change in its deliverables. A number of powerful features are being added such as web content filtering, protection of popular applications, integration of SSL/VPN protection and VoIP security as add-ons. Another key revolutionary improvement is enabling centralized management of multiple UTMs, facilitating greater control of the network as a whole. |
